Despite the band’s claim in various interviews that this album represents a progression for them, I ain’t hearin’ it. Conveyor is modern hardcore, plain and simple. (Does anyone else miss when hardcore records were analog? These digital recordings got no balls!) The tempos might be slowed down just a tad bit, there might be a few wanky little guitar bits, there are definitely more accessible melodies, but all in all this is nothing special. The band makes no bones about their love for The Refused, but I’m not hearing the same level of experimentation they had. This is not to say that Conveyor sucks, far from it. It might come across as mediocre to me, but if you’re really super into modern day hardcore you’ll probably love this. (And damn, they throw down live, even if there are only three people in the audience. I may not care about their records but I’ll watch these dudes rip it live anytime.) If you’re into stuff like No Trigger or Strike Anywhere, OWC are probably worth checking out. If you’re a picky old man like me, stick to that Age of Quarrel reissue. — by Ryan Horkey
