[MUSIC] With Words – Cagebound [UNSIGNED REVIEW]

WITH WORDS
Cagebound EP
[Unsigned]
Verdict: 8/10

WITH WORDS write and play a style of hardcore that only a few select artists should ever try to play. It’s experimental in its overall feel. Its demeanor is angry and extremely pissed. It’s a thrill to listen to. Reminiscent of a mellower CONVERGE meets THE CHARIOT with a little NEUROSIS for good measure; listening to it is an exciting thing. From the opening moments of “Consumer Plague”, the drumming sets up the chaos that ensues. It’s heavy, furious and unrelenting in its intensity. Vocalist Mike Govoni verbally attacks the mic as the rest of the band, guitarists Mike Holman and Matt Gosselin, bassist Joseph Perron and drummer Joseph Barthelette approach the music they make as if its a war. A war they intend to win. The intesity never relents throughout the six amazingly brutal but beautiful tracks offered up for consumption here. Not content to just put together songs that are groove laden and mosh worthy, WITH WORDS have put their blood, sweat and emotions into Cagebound, making it a mad, passionate affair, that overflows with aggression and talent. Final track “Feeder” ends with some wicked feedback leaving one wondering, what’s next? What’s next is hopefully more of this amazing band’s music. Free yourself and open up to the a world WITH WORDS. — by Jon Hole
