DOOMSDAY MOURNING
Culture Of Corruption EP
[Unsigned]
Verdict: 8/10
RIYL: ABBACAB, OCEANO, THE ACACIA STRAIN & YEARS SPENT COLD

In this ‘often imitated never duplicated’ genre of metal/metalcore/deathcore, very few bands actually stand out. In 2010, Queens, NY youngbloods released a 6 song EP, The Science Of Exploitation. It featured not only brain numbing heaviness but on 4 of it’s 6 tracks, they had guest vocals from a few of their supporters, such as Frank P. of EMMURE and Ronnie Canizaro of BORN OF OSIRIS. After it’s release and internet wildfire viral expansion, news of this promising band seemed to stop flowing. Enter 2012 and DOOMSDAY MOURNING have released the Culture Of Corruption EP. It’s 5 songs spew forth dirty, grimy breakdowns and some nasty vocal work. The bands brutal music is complemented by the brutally honest lyrical themes. While the breakdowns presented here aren’t exactly original and genre defining, they are harsh and (yes) passionate. This is the type of music you blast when you need to get the juices flowing. This is what a good beatdown consists of and needs. The band have pronounced Culture Of Corruption as a limited edition EP to coincide with the release of their upcoming full length Predisposed. Having opened for some of the better bands out there (STICK TO YOUR GUNS, OCEANO and CHELSEA GRIN) it’s easy to imagine these guys getting picked up and coming to level a town near you soon. -by Jon Hole

In conclusion…Being a sucker for good breakdowns, Doomsday Mourning‘s Culture Of Corruption EP is the perfect soundtrack to beating your annoying neighbor.
