[MUSIC NEWS] Black Numbers to release No Motiv vinyl
| Black Numbers to release No Motiv’s “Winterlong” EP on vinyl! |
| No Motiv’s Winterlong EP now available for preorder on vinyl in our webstore.
Winterlong available March 6, 2012 on Black Numbers. “Beginning from the End” streaming now at theblacknumbers.com. No Motiv’s (Oxnard, CA) first release in nearly eight years, Winterlong, is now available from Jersey City label Black Numbers (PJ Bond, Go Rydell, Grey Area, Luther) in the limited vinyl format. Following a storied career at the height of the emo in-a-good-way scene which included four releases on Vagrant Records and numerous worldwide tours with the likes of The Get Up Kids, Hod Rod Circuit, The Anniversary, among others, No Motiv returns with this six song offering. Following their indefinite hiatus, the band wrote the Winterlong EP and released it digitally and via CD in fall 2011. More cohesive yet atmospheric than their earlier releases, Winterlong is a clear progression for the band’s sound without straying too far from their foundation. The band most recently played a handful of west coast shows with Hot Rod Circuit and hope to continue playing select headline shows and festival dates. The vinyl is limited to 500 pieces, 100 Clear, 150 Colorlight Blue, 250 White. All colors as well as limited test press packages and an exclusive t shirt are available in our webstore |
[MUSIC NEWS] No Idea Announce 2012 Releases
Breaking News!

No Idea Records
Announces 2012 Releases, Signings, Tour Dates and More!

Solid PR is excited to announce its representation of one of the most celebrated independent record labels of the modern era, No Idea Records. Originally formed in 1985 as a fanzine, No Idea’s first releases in the late 80′s by the Doldrums and Bay Area punk heroes Crimpshrine, would lay the groundwork to what would become home to some of the most influential bands for decades to come.
Representing their home-town of Gainesville, Florida with great passion and pride, No Idea has released records for some of the most revered artists in punk rock history, including Against Me!, Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio, Dillinger Four, Jawbreaker, Less Than Jake, J Church, Coalesce, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Leatherface, Samiam, Off With Their Heads and countless others who have cemented their legacies in independent and mainstream music.
Currently, No Idea maintains its place at the forefront of the burgeoning punk rock community, having released records in 2011 for championed artists such as Bridge and Tunnel, Good Luck, The Measure (sa), Hawks and Doves, Shores, Traveling, Armalite, Ampere, and Latterman, as well as veteran heroes of the genre such as Seaweed and Samiam.
Most exciting, though, might actually be what No Idea has in store for 2012. New releases and signing announcements include bands like Philadelphia’s haunting and cerebral-rock sensation Creepoid, Louisville’s thrash n’roll hybrid Black God (featuring members of Coliseum, By The Grace of God and Black Cross), Gainesville’s own Replacements-inspired Chris Wollard & The Ship Thieves, future grindcore legends DNF (featuring members of Trash Talk and Touche Amore), Grand Rapids’ stargazing slow-core act Shores (for fans of Codeine / Bedhead / Red House Painters / Three Mile Pilot) and Billy No Mates (featuring members of Snuff from the UK). In addition, mainstays such as The Bomb, Worn In Red, Grabass Charlestons, and Burning Love will all be dropping new material in 2012, not to mention the list of reissues and live releases from legendary acts such as The Swarm, Cleveland Bound Death Sentence, Hot Water Music, Samiam and The Blacktop Cadence. To say the least, the year ahead should prove to be the most diverse and compelling twelve months of releases the label has seen since its inception.
No Idea Records and Distribution is owned and operated by Var Thelin and Jennifer Crosby, with help from some of Gainesville’s best and brightest. As Razorcake Magazine said in their 2010 interview with Thelin discussing the label’s 25 year history and 300+ releases, “It’s not easy to start a record label… and actually sell records… and not be a douchebag… and remain friends with the bands after the record’s out… No Idea is one of the prime examples of what the best of DIY punk is capable of, in any decade.”
* No Idea bands from the 2011 and upcoming 2012 schedule of releases have currently announced upcoming live shows around the country and the globe (a full itinerary can be found below). Writers and publications interested in covering any of the recently released 2011 No Idea albums should drop a line and we’ll make sure to get them in your hands immediately.
